Class Descriptions

Getting Started on Guitar

Time – Wednesday 7:00 – 8:00pm

Dates – June 21st – August 10th

Fees – $100 (8 Classes)

This class will teach you the core skills that you need to play any genre of music on guitar. In eight 1-hour sessions, you will learn how to accompany a singer, or your own voice, with chords and rhythm patterns, read basic musical notation, play melodies and improvise solos with simple scales.

We will learn by playing a diverse repertoire of classic and contemporary music, chosen by students in the Beat Harvest program. Once you have mastered these skills, you will be able to teach yourself to play the music you are most excited by.

My goal is to teach you not only how to play guitar, but also how to use music to express yourself, play with others and build community. No previous musical experience is necessary.

Beginning Ukulele

Time – Tuesday 3:00 – 4:00pm (8 – 10 year-olds) / 4:30 – 5:30pm (11 – 14 year-olds)

Dates – June 20th – August 8th

There will be no classes on Tuesday, August 1st.

Fees – $85 (7 classes)

The beginning ukulele class will provide your child with an understanding of a string instrument and give them an experience of taking music lessons. The ukulele is a fabulous instrument for a young child because of the size of the instrument and the nylon strings which makes it easier for a beginning student.
In the seven weeks of lessons your child will learn to play several songs! They will learn to play chords with strumming patterns and basic finger picking. We will also work on singing and playing together as a group. It  is recommended that they have a ukulele that can stay in tune as well as a tuner. I am happy to rent instruments for the program for an extra $20.00 for the seven weeks.
If you have any questions about the the classes, please get in touch.
